German photographing pair Bernd and Hilla Becher took photos of one thing while admiring the slight differences between them. Their subject of choice is water towers. They photographed the sides of various water towers all from the same approach. The camera is pointed at the water towers the same way in every photo. Just like my tripod set up, it leaves about the same amount of space at the top and bottom of every photo. This space frames the water tower in the center to focus on all the details in the metal working. The photos are arranged in a grid pattern. This arrangement lets your eye move back and forth between the pictures allowing them to be compared quickly instead of walking around an entire gallery of boring individual tower portraits.
